New Blog Design + Awkward/Awesome.

ok so,  I know I only have 3 followers and justifying paying for a new blog design probably makes no sense but....
Allison of Green Tangerine Design on Etsy was so easy to work with and affordable.
plus, my blog is pretty now and may properly attract new followers with it's snazzy new look.

and now for Awkward/Awesome!

Awkward:
-trying to move 35 lbs weights with one hand from in front of the stair-stepper cause some meathead left them there.... and then said meathead comes over and says "I only have 1 more set if you don't mind." uuuuhh yes, I do mind but I guess I get on the treadmill. so I get on the treadmill and start running but then I proceed to drop my i-pod and have it fly into the wall behind me. after that long story, who looks like the fool now? me. all could have been avoiding if the meathead would have just let me use the stair-stepper... who holds on to weights and steps? douches.

-I had to meet a client downtown this week so naturally I wanted to look good so i wore heels... on the day it was hurricane winds and a torrential downpour. my name's kelli, and I can't dress for the weather.

-I grabbed the squeaky cart at target. like ridiculously squeaky, and everyone was looking at me.

-definitely thought I babysat this friday. definitely was wrong.

-my scarf got caught in the zipper of my coat. at the immigration courthouse. right before I needed to go through security. 'no officer, I really can't get my coat off! see! my scarf is stuck in it, no bomb I promise!'-I'm awkward. and I had to cut the scarf out (my favorite one), and the zipper is still stuck! what. a. joke.

Awesome:
-I beat like 7 levels of angry birds this week. I'm the most productive person I know.

-I got a rebate check in the mail that I completely forgot about, hellllllo target!

-I figured out how to let non-blogger members comment on my blog.

-I got to work out 5 days this week, and I'm way less stressed as a result.

-I made my first dish from pinterest! What up taco casserole!
pure tastiness right there folks.
-I got my own office while interning downtown this week.
-found out the Dalai Lama is coming to Loyola! so pleased.

-went out to an awesome party friday night, and got to see so many people I know! plus, some of my ladies from France this summer (:

and this one is awkward and awesome...
-I got partially walked home for said party by this kind soul of a guy.... who while at the party told me my hair smelled amazing (uuuh thanks for the info, I guess I've never smelt it) and that I pulled off the ginger look "amazingly well." obviously these are are all very nice things so say to a lady, but I was a little taken back....and then when we were saying goodbye, my friends, he kissed my hand. like I was a princess. I've never had any of these things occur before so this goes in the category of awkward AND awesome.

scenes from my week:

so much inspiration!

my momma is now selling dog collars in her shop, and lulu is the cutest model ever! such a serious puppy..

No Shame November.

so my best gal, Kat, started this project titler "No Shame November,"
get it?! like No Shave November but not as disgusting and just straight up better all around.
you all should check it out at:
I'm absolutely in love with this idea.
so many of us walk around feeling self-conscious every single day, myself included.
why though?!
what is stopping us from seeing all the amazing things each of us possesses?
this has been on my mind a lot lately, especially with the recent break-up.
every time my ex and I would break up/stop talking, I would go through this cycle of self-hate.
I would constantly wonder why I wasn't good enough,
and just overall, be incredibly hard on myself.

tonight, I looked at some of the writing I had done from last spring (last time we broke up),
and it seriously blew my mind how much I had blamed myself.
why, why, why?
most of the stuff I was upset about was out of my control.
it. had. nothing. to. do. with. me.
but yet, I sat there blaming myself.

I don't want to do that this time, and I refuse to repeat that cycle again.

but I also found a list of goals from that same night of writing.
hope was found my friends.
I had SO many amazing goals laid out for myself...
and you know what?
I just counted and I've accomplished 15 out of 30 of them already.

so take a second to remember all the goals you've accomplished this past year.
try to not be so hard on yourself.
let go of the things that are not within your control.
let yourself be.
embrace what you are, not what you aren't.

This quote pretty much sums it all up.
that's where the No Shame November project comes in.
I'd like to invite all you to join in on this project.
you can do this anyway you like, whether that be posting comments or just doing it on your own.

some advice on how to approach this project:
confront your fears this month.
go all out with your life.
run that extra mile.
have no regrets, no shame.
wear cute outfits.
forgive yourself.
eat healthy.
don't hold anything back,
cause you have nothing to be afraid off.
you are you, and that is an absolutely amazing thing.

best of luck!
-Kelli

Weekend Recap.

oh my gosh this week/weekend flew by!
luckily, I only had to have the heart monitor for 24 hrs so I was free to be an indian. thank goodness!
(I was lazy/no time for a costume so I went with what I had in my closet..which happens to be a poncho.)
let's start with thursday:
I went to Misericordia's Halloween Party with one of my volunteers.
it was awesome! they went all out/the residents costumes were amazing.
friday:
I was supposed to have my heart appt, buuuut it got rescheduled to monday (cross your fingers!)
lots of work/school.
I went out with my roommate Courtney that night, and it was so much fun.
we ended up going to a party, and her boyfriend's band (Super Hairy) played at the party.
it was one of those weird ones where I though I would know no one and ended up seeing everyone!
I haven't been on campus the past like 6 weekends, and I've definitely missed going out.
....the whole getting home at 4 am thing was a little rough though.
pictures to come!
Saturday:
ok so I tried to go work out this morning (amazing feat-see above referenced bedtime)
....and the gym is closed.
wtf?! I had to walk through all the perspective parents/children to find this out.
and they got to watch me stare at the sign and get angry and exclaim 'loyola is ridiculous.
exactly what you want to hear on a visit right?
but shopping was awesome.
I went to topshop for the first time in downtown chicago, and I was so impressed.
a little expensive, but there is a student discount.
and what I wore!
poor quality, but you get the idea (:
and then I hung out with a ton of friends that night, and ended up at another
party with a band playing (Sons of the West this time) and got to see some dear friends from France this past summer!
seriously people, I forgot how much fun is was to actually go out. not just hang out with friends but go out/be young/be crazy.
you only get one life, so you might as well just go for it.
and while listening to the Sons of the Wes, I decided to just go for it. to just let go. and just dance to the music. life is seriously good.
sunday:
church with the momma
what I wore!
two outfit posts in one weekend-be impressed.
scarf-topshop, shoes-jessica simpson, jeans-AE (on super sale right now), jacket-banana republic, purse-francescas
and then a chipotle feast (om nom nom)

and handing out candy to some of the adorable children of Rodger's Park-ps. whenever I have kids, they will be zombies princesses. best. idea. ever.
but first the fire department had to come! uuuuh too much smoke mahine?

our door that we decorated for loyola4chicago! apparently fishys are a bigger hit with little kids than disney characters. who would have thought?!

all in all, I'd call it a successful weekend.

Is it Christmas yet?

my momma just asked me what I wanted for christmas, and this is the perfect excuse to avoid my homework! win-win huh?!
plus, I loooooove making my christmas list, and it definitely always happens way before it's appropriate to do so.

first off....

1. Kindle Fire
cheaper than an I-pad, but almost just as awesome...plus it has 3G! say whaaaat.

2. Anything from Anthropologie...
but specifically these items
fleece lined leggings-genius, pure genius.

2. These items from Urban Outfitters

4. I want these Fyre Riding boots so bad. Like sell my soul bad.

5. The Lincoln Lawyer. So Good. Matthew Mcconaughey is smokin' hot.

6. Herringbone Blazer from AE.
I have a new found obsession with blazers. I feel like they make me look smarter. or classy. or all of the above.

7. Workout clothes from Lululemon.
girl's got to work on her fitness you know?! plus, I really think I'll go more often if I'm in cute clothes.

honestly, I'll be really pleased to get even one thing on this list... especially that kindle fire (hint hint momma)

plus, I looooove to buy gifts for other people, and I can't wait till it's time to decorate for christmas.
are finals over yet?
